Relativity is a complex system, and occasionally processes will error out by no fault of the operator or the documents involved. When this occurs, Delegate Automated Workflows can be used to handle the Relativity errors.
Often, the best first step is to simply try again. And while there is no automatic "retry" option, Delegate's Automated Workflows offers a straightforward way to achieve the same effect.
The two critical components of this approach are the Delegates' ability to add as many steps of each type to a workflow as needed and the ability to configure error behavior for each step.
Considering those options, let's examine an example of how to incorporate some retry capabilities into document imaging.
Step 1: Perform Initial Setup
In our workflow, configure any initial information
Name, description, etc.
Select a trigger type
Add any initial steps you want before getting to the imaging steps
Add two Run Imaging Set steps, one after the other
Select the same Imaging Set for each of the steps
Add any additional steps to your workflow to run after the imaging steps.
NOTE: Relativity's imaging process skips documents with images, so we don't have to worry about duplicating the imaging work by running the set for a second time.
Step 2: Configure the error handling for the Run Imaging Set steps.
For the 1st step, ensure that the Pause Workflow checkbox is deselected for the Partial Complete option.
For the 2nd step, ensure that the Pause Workflow checkbox is selected for the Partial Complete option.
Configure notifications for each step as you like – "Make It Like You Like It!"
Step 3: Run the workflow!
With the steps configured, if any errors occur with the first imaging step, the documents for which imaging was not run successfully will still be returned when we get to the second step.
If further errors occur during our "retry" step, the workflow will stop, and you'll be able to examine it to see if something bigger is going on.
If it was just a hiccup with Relativity, the documents would image successfully in the second step, and the workflow would move on to any additional steps.
And that is it! That's how simple and effective it can be to use Delegate's Automated Workflows to handle Relativity errors.
